1. To wage war on some other country or group of people. Under the rule of its new dictator, the country has begun warring with its neighbors in an attempt to consolidate power in the region. The various tribes in the region have warred with each other for decades over the limited resources available.
2. To engage in a prolonged and bitter dispute with someone or some group. Teachers have been warring with the school board over the proposed pay cuts. I warred with my parents when I was a teenager because I felt like they were infringing on my freedom to be who I wanted.
