1. adverb, slang Why? What for? (The word is a colloquial contraction of the latter.) Primarily heard in US. A: "I think I'll walk to work today." B: "Wuffo? I can give you a lift."
2. noun, slang Someone who has never before skydived, paraglided, or hanglided, especially someone who is skeptical, scornful, or particularly ignorant of the sport. The term can be used in a derogatory manner. Derived from the adverbial use of "wuffo" in the phrase "Wuffo you gonna jump out of a perfectly good airplane?" Primarily heard in US. Skydiving is a big part of my life, so I don't think I could ever date a wuffo. I was a bit of a wuffo until just last year, but now I am totally hooked on paragliding!
