1. To utter some words with difficulty in a strained, rasping, or whistling voice. A noun or pronoun can be used between "wheeze" and "out." My grandfather wheezed out something to my mother right before he passed away, but I couldn't hear what he said. A man burst into the police station, but he was so out of breath that he could barely wheeze anything out.
2. To emit some noise in a manner resembling such laborious breathing. A noun or pronoun can be used between "wheeze" and "out." The old truck wheezes some goofy tune out when you press on the horn. I tried playing the accordion she brought down from the attic, but it was in such bad condition that it could only wheeze out a couple of notes out.
