Evident by one's facial expression. Said of one's emotions or inner thoughts. Jenny said she wasn't scared before we went into the haunted house, but terror was written all over her face. John said nothing, but his response was written all over his face.

If an emotion or your opinion about something is written all over your face, it is very obvious to people what you are feeling or thinking. My misery must have been written all over my face. Joy and relief were written all over the faces of the freed hostages.
