1. To mix together a variety of different constituent parts, especially in a hasty, haphazard, or improvised manner. A noun or pronoun can be used between "toss" and "together." A: "This dinner is delicious!" B: "It's nothing special. I just tossed together a few different leftovers we had in the fridge." You can tell they tossed a bunch of clichés together when they were writing the story.
2. To create, assemble, or construct something in a hasty, haphazard, or improvised manner. A noun or pronoun can be used between "toss" and "together." Be sure to follow the instructions before you start building the dresser. Don't just toss it together like you usually do! I completely forgot about the assignment, so I tossed something together at the last minute.
3. To bring together multiple different people (for some purpose) very suddenly or abruptly, especially those who are unfamiliar with one another or would otherwise be unlikely to interact or work together. A noun or pronoun can be used between "toss" and "together." The management just tossed together a bunch of different developers and expected them to create some amazing new phone app. Of course it was going to be a flop! What I really liked about the course is that it tossed all these different people together so we could bring our unique knowledge and experience to the table. We were tossed together by random chance, but it ended up being the most important moment of our lives.
