To try something new to see what it is like or if it is desirable. Primarily heard in UK, Australia. My parents never allowed me to refuse foods that were new to me. I just had to suck it and see!

If you suck it and see, you try something in order to find out if it is a good idea and likely to succeed. We have no way of knowing whether it's the right strategy — we're going to have to suck it and see. Note: You can also use suck-it-and-see before a noun. The Government's suck-it-and-see approach has led to a level of prosperity which is the envy of the world.
