The person you're looking for went off in that direction! Often used in humorous or clichéd works of fiction. A: "Hey, did you see a tall fella with long curly hair run past just now?" B: "Yeah, he went that-a-way, mister!" If the police come looking for me, tell them I went that-a-way!
