smart money

Money used for investments that is controlled by people who are experienced in and knowledgeable of investing large sums of money, or the people who have or control that money. Historically, the smart money is in gold. During the economic recession, the smart money bought up prime pieces of land at low prices, and now that the market is rebounding, they are making a fortune.
