slang A mustache, especially a bushy one that covers one's upper lip. Refers to the way the hairs tend to get in the way when one consumes a liquid, such as soup. My girlfriends always says she wants me to shave my soup-strainer, but I've grown so fond of it over the years. He came out of No-Shave November with a pretty awesome soup-strainer.
