spot market

A market in which the purchase or sale of an asset occurs instantly and the delivery immediately. (As opposed to a futures market, in which specific amounts of an asset are delivered at a specified time in the future for a specified price.) After the news, many people flooded the spot market to snatch up shares in the company. I've been trading gold on the spot market for years, and I've learned how to use daily fluctuations in values to maximize my profits.
