so mote it be

A ritual phrase meaning "so may it be," said at the end of a prayer. Used especially by Wiccans and Freemasons. A: "Bless us as we part company that we may continue to serve You through Masonry. Amen." B: "So mote it be." I cast this circle as both a barrier and a doorway, a connection to and protection against the forces of the other world. By my will, so mote it be.
