the whole (something) bit

Some element, aspect, or characteristic of someone or something, especially that one dislikes or disapproves of. It was a well paying job, but I could never get used to the whole customer relations bit that went along with it. I know he's talented, but I don't buy the whole starving-artist bit he puts on.
