second nature
An intuitive, instinctive, or innate ability, habit, or trait usually achieved because one performs or practices a certain action very often or for a very long time. I know this data entry process seems complex now, but it'll be second nature after you do it for a few weeks. Don't worry, navigating these winding roads is second nature for me at this point.

second nature
A habit or mode of behavior so long practiced that it seems innate, as in Driving in heavy traffic is second nature to Chris. This expression is a shortened form of an ancient proverb, Custom (or usage) is a second nature, first recorded in 1390. It alludes to the fact that very frequently repeating something makes it seem completely natural or inborn.

second nature
A deeply ingrained habit that makes one behave as if by instinct. This concept is very old—“Custom is second nature” is how it was put by Plutarch, Montaigne, and other early writers—but appeared in English at first only in translations of this proverb. The modern usage dates from the early 1900s. In The Confidential Clerk (1954) T. S. Eliot wrote “I do feel more at ease . . . behind a desk. It’s second nature.”
