1. An overly idealistic or optimistic outlook, usually regarding one's hopes for success. I doubt she'll actually become a famous actress—she just has stars in her eyes.
2. An interest in film or theater and all things related to it. Ever since Tim saw that Broadway play, he's had stars in his eyes.

Fig. an obsession with celebrities, movies, and the theater. (Alludes to movie stars. *Typically: get ~; have ~; give one ~.) Many young people have stars in their eyes at this age. Anne has stars in her eyes. she wants to go to Hollywood.

stars in your eyes

If someone has stars in their eyes, they are very hopeful and excited about things which they expect to happen to them in the future. With stars in my eyes, I set about becoming a guitarist, singer and songwriter. Note: You often use this expression to suggest that the person is too hopeful and that the things that they expect to happen probably will not.
