ready up

1. To become prepared (for or to do something). The commander told us to ready up as our drop plane neared the target.
2. To make someone or something prepared (for or to do something). In this usage, a noun or pronoun can be used between "ready" and "up." Our training program promises to ready students up for work as they approach graduation. Tom has been readying up the our stall for the craft market.
3. In online video games, to indicate that one is ready to begin a new round of gameplay. As soon as one match ends, you can just hit the spacebar to ready up for the next one.
4. In video games, to cause or indicate to someone to be ready and available for a new round of play. In this usage, a noun or pronoun can be used between "ready" and "up." Our team captain readied us up after we all agreed on our strategy for the next round.
