retail to (someone or something)

1. To sell (some product or item) directly to consumers in small batches or quantities. A noun or pronoun can be used between "retail" and "to" to indicate the item being sold. The plan is to scale up to mass production and begin retailing to customers as early as next fall. We need to start retailing our products to a larger portion of the country if we want to start making a significant profit.
2. dated To relate or repeat the details of some account to someone. A noun or pronoun is used between "retail" and "to." She retailed all the various gossip to the women with whom she worked. I've never committed this scandalous story to paper before now, though I've retailed it to many of my closest friends and family.
