1. A female soldier placed at an exposed position ahead of a patrol to act as a lookout for enemies or hazards. The point woman had just begun to signal to her unit that something suspicious lay ahead when an IED exploded at her feet.
2. A woman who is assigned to a foremost position of authority, responsibility, or leadership for some group, enterprise, or endeavor. She was the president's point woman when it came to dealings with Saudi Arabia. This is Sarah—she'll be your point woman for the merger as we move forward.
