Going door to door, as to solicit a sale, a vote, or information. Primarily heard in UK, Australia. When I was just out of college, I had a job on the knocker for a mobile phone provider to get people to switch their plans. We're urging everyone who wants to see this referendum pass to get out on the knocker and spread the word.
