We're just exploring options to reduce our expenditures each month, that's all." A: "Did you tell Mary that we were buying her a puppy for Christmas?" B: "I said nothing of the kind! I just asked her if it was something she might like." If taxpayers have been hoping for a bit of extra cash in their pockets after the tax reform bill the president signed today, they should expect nothing of the kind.
