pitch up

1. To arrive; to turn up. Many believe the actor was intoxicated when he pitched up at the awards ceremony.
2. To elevate the pitch of a sound or source of sound. In this usage, a noun or pronoun can be used between "pitch" and "up." Parents naturally tend to pitch up their voices when speaking to babies and young children. We pitched the song up by one step using digital software. I only realized that the lead singer had been pitched up on the album after hearing him perform live in a much lower register.
