No (good) reason for something or to do something. There is just no call for that type of language in the classroom!

Also, no call to. No requirement or reason for doing something, as in There was no call for your condescending suggestions; she knew quite well what to do . This idiom, first recorded in 1779, uses call in the sense of "duty" or "need." The variant is always used with a verb, as in There was no call to get the police involved because it's a simple dispute between neighbors .
