NINA

NINA

obsolete An acronym for "no Irish need apply," an anti-Irish slogan used on Help Wanted signs in the 19th and 20th centuries, especially in Great Britain, Australia, and North America. When my grandfather moved to New York City, all the wanted signs around town had NINA written on them.
