An initialism of "may the Force be with you," a catchphrase adapted from the media franchise Star Wars, in which it is used as a blessing that invokes "the Force" (a metaphysical power capable of being wielded for good or evil) to protect or guide the other person. In general use, the phrase is often a humorous way of wishing someone success or good fortune. A: "Nervous! I'm heading off for my final exams." B: "Oh, wow. MTFBWY!"
