1. To look all around oneself by turning one's head or body. I thought I heard someone say my name, so I stopped and looked round, but there was no one there.
2. To examine or inspect some place or area by walking around and looking at its various aspects. After 15 minutes or so of looking round, we both felt the house just wasn't right for us. I looked round the small hotel room, noticing all the eccentric details of its décor.
3. To examine or investigate some place or area in order to locate someone or something. I looked round for the manager, but she was nowhere to be found. I kept looking round the room for somewhere to plug my laptop in, but there were no outlets anywhere in the classroom.
