Added as a tag to the end of a sentence to emphasize one's uncertainty about someone or something. I bet Tom could help us. His dad's a politician or a lawyer or something—someone with some influence, in any case! Is this a joke or something? Because it's not funny at all.

A: "What do you want to do this evening?" B: "We could go out for dinner or something, if you like." I'm not sure what John's husband does for a living; I think he's a writer or something like that.
