To do something for most of or an entire day. There's a fabulous local market in town where you can actually make a day of doing your shopping for the week. If we're going to be at the beach for the volleyball tournament in the morning, we might as well pack our blankets and swim suits and make a day of it.

Why don't we pack a picnic, head to the trailhead early, and make a day of it hiking around the area? I think we should all split the cost of a villa near the beach and make a week of it!
