middle ground

Something that people with differing opinions or views can agree upon; a compromise. More and more, it seems like people of differing views are unwilling to attempt to find a middle ground.

middle ground

a position of compromise; a state of thinking where two opposing parties can discuss an issue politely and productively. If we could only reach a middle ground on this issue, things wouldn't be so confrontational.
