just as soon

just as soon

Like to; rather. Often used when one is faced with several options. It would be nice to live somewhere else, but I would just as soon go to a local college, so that I can stay close to my family. I'd just as soon stay home tonight—is that all right?

Also, as soon. Rather, more readily; also, equally. For example, I'd just as soon you took care of it, or I would as soon recover before I go and baby-sit, or I'd as soon have the lamb as the beef. [Late 1500s]
