1. To openly copy, simulate, or emulate someone or something in content or style as a means of honoring, admiring, or showing respect toward them or it. 2. To openly worship, admire, honor, or show respect for someone or something. Many come from all over the world to pay homage to the venerated leader of the church. I refuse to bend my knee and pay homage simply to conform to convention.
