hoard up

To accumulate and keep large quantities of something. A now or pronoun can be used between "hoard" and "up." People tend to hoard up things like bread, milk, and eggs when they heard a bad winter weather forecast.

to accumulate a large store of something against bad times. Scott was hoarding canned goods up for the hard times ahead. He hoarded up many pounds of canned tuna.
