I hope so

1. I wish or desire that something is or will be the case. A: "I think it's supposed to be sunny this weekend." B: "I hope so! I'm planning on having a big barbecue in the park."
2. I would naturally expect that this would happen or be true. A: "My manager said you can get a refund on the item." B: "I certainly hope so—it arrived broken in two pieces!"
