I don't actually believe what you're saying; I think you're lying. Primarily heard in UK. A: "I didn't take the money, honest!" B: "Uh huh. I believe you, but thousands wouldn't." A: "I swear, there's nothing going on between me and Margaret. She and I are just friends!" B: "OK, Tom. I believe you, but thousands wouldn't."
