join (someone or something) to (something)
1. To create a physical connection between two or more different things. Make sure the breaker is off before you join the wires to the electrical socket.
2. To come into the company of someone in order to do something. My wife and I joined her family to travel to Mexico for Christmas. Why don't you join us at the park to have lunch?
3. To work together with someone or some group in order to do something. The financial consultant is joining us to get our expenses under control. Several large companies have joined the activists to urge the government to reverse the controversial legislation.
