have (one's) head read

To have one's logic or sanity examined or reevaluated, usually regarding some ridiculous decision, plan, or idea. A reference to a psychiatric evaluation, the phrase is usually used prescriptively. I'm telling you, you need to have your head read if you think the bank will approve you for another loan. With all the harebrained ideas she's been having lately, I think she ought to have her head read.
