have a jones for (something)

slang To have an intense desire or craving for something, sometimes due to addiction. It's so hot out that I have a jones for some ice cream. I gave up smoking this morning, and I'm already having a major jones for a cigarette! Of course you have a jones for caffeine—you normally drink three cups of coffee a day.
