Chamomile tea is another recommendation but some of us would never let it pass our lips sober, let alone half-stewed. A 16th Century hangover cure involved a mixture of raw eels and almonds mixed to a paste, while in Australia it's customary to follow a particularly heavy session with a couple of steak pies covered in tomato sauce and chased by ice-cold Coca-Cola.
