get the high sign

To receive a hand gesture used as a signal about something. Sometimes, it refers specifically to the "OK" gesture (when the tip of the index finger and thumb touch, forming a circle). We can't go out on stage until we get the high sign from the stage manager. A: "Are you sure we should have taken the cookies out of the oven?" B: "Yeah, I got the high sign from Mom."
