be so much/many (something)

To be something completely or at the expense of being anything else. These equations are so much gibberish to me. I think I need tutoring.

be completely something; be just or only something: All his fine speeches are so much rubbish if he doesn’t keep his promises. All these politicians are just so many names to me. I don’t know any of them.
