a bit part

a bit part

A very minor role in a production (such as a TV show, play, or movie) with little to no spoken lines. My sister is so excited to have gotten a bit part in a Hollywood movie that she doesn't mind only having one line. Of course I'm disappointed to have only gotten a bit part—I auditioned for the lead!
