Product marketing manager Colin Beasty says the software's simplicity is "our biggest competitive differentiator." ActiveBatch helps IT administrators manage tasks and does most of the heavy lifting in writing scripts for scheduled jobs: It eliminates the need for scripting common jobs with a preset list of options in its Integrated Jobs Library.

"A 'job' can be anything a developer can develop," says Beasty. The Integrated Jobs Library holds more than 100 job steps, including extract, transform, and load (ETL) processes; job log selections; and change of variants.

Since many routine jobs are often run in the early morning so they don't interfere with workday server traffic, IT staff members can use the date and time automation to set up the workflow "like an alarm clock," Beasty says.

In the future, the company will focus on intelligent automation, which Beasty says leverages historical data and performance metrics that are reported to ActiveBatch.

Companies such as Beasty Bling, a high-end pet jewelry brand, and Dog Boutique, a lush West Hollywood pet product retailer, are seeing sales increase.

"We love our pets as we do our children, and what parent wouldn't make sure that their child's needs were met before theirs," said Kate Noto, designer and CEO of Beasty Bling.
