cross (one's) mind

To be thought of by one. Take time to form your response to the interviewer—don't just blurt out the first thing that crosses your mind. I haven't thought of my high school English teacher in years, so I'm not sure why she crossed my mind today.

COMMON If something crosses your mind, you suddenly think of it. It crossed my mind that she might be lying about her age. I certainly didn't think of leaving. The idea never crossed my mind. It didn't even cross my mind that I might not win this fight.
