ejusdem generis

ejusdem generis

From Latin, literally "of the same kind," a legal rule of construction holding that general words following specific words in a list must be construed as applying only to things similar to or identified by the specific words. The court is attempting to determine if, under the doctrine of ejusdem generis, the epidemic can be considered of the same general class as indicated by force majeure contracts of the insurers.
