An abbreviation for "Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony," referring to the rare feat of winning the major awards in television, music, film, and theater. Composer Richard Rodgers became the first EGOT winner in 1962. He also won a Pulitzer, so technically he's a PEGOT!
