1. To attempt to reach an agreement with someone that is mutually beneficial or acceptable. We spent nearly two hours bargaining over the details of the contract, but we still weren't satisfied. You've got to learn how to bargain over the price with these street merchants.
2. To attempt to obtain possession or custody of someone or something after negotiating or conferring with someone to reach an agreement. Do you think we can bargain over that used car with the owner? Or will he turn us away? I don't want to bargain over the kids. Let's just split custody evenly.
