1. To visit a particular place. I called at that store, but the item I'm looking for is out of stock.
2. To stop at a particular location, as of a ship. We'll be calling at that port later today.

to visit some place; [for a ship] to put into port at a place. I called at the druggist's for some medicine. Our ship will call at seven ports during the voyage.
