The address of the White House, the residence of the president of the United States of America, used to refer to the White House or the presidency itself. Primarily heard in US. 1600 Penn. Ave. has not yet taken an official stance on this issue.

Madison Avenue
1. noun The mainstream advertising industry as a whole in the United States (once all or mostly located on Madison Avenue in New York City). Madison Avenue could make dirt look like diamonds to most consumers. I mean, look what they did for diamonds!
2. adjective Of or relating to large-scale, mainstream advertising. Honestly, it's a bit too Madison Avenue for our clients' taste.
