A colloquial pronunciation and spelling of "How (are) you doing?" Used as a friendly and informal greeting. Primarily heard in US. A: "Hiya doin', Bob?" B: "Just swell, Frank. And you?" B: "Yep, can't complain!

1. How are things? How's life? Hey, great to see you again! How are you doing?
2. Used to inquire into the state of someone's mental, emotional, or physical health. Miranda, I heard you were sick recently. How are you doing?
3. Used to inquire into the state of someone's progress, as with a project or workload. A: "Hey, Tom. How are you doing with that finance report?" B: "Nearly finished!"

Absolutely not. This response to a request, suggestion, or statement of something one considers untrue dates from the late 1800s. People used it on June 22, 1947: “It was suggested that she should come incognito. Nothing doing.” Also see not on your life, and, for a more recent expression of denial or refusal, no way.
