1. noun A sharp curve or bend, as in a road. Slow down, there's a dogleg up ahead! You'll have to take a dogleg at the bottom of the hill, just past the school.
2. noun A hole on a golf course in which the fairway angles abruptly. The ninth hole is a particularly tricky dogleg that has so far proven treacherous for today's competitors.
3. verb To make sharp curve or bend, as of or on a road. The path doglegs really suddenly a little further on, so drive carefully.
